Bat Awareness Training

If you may come across bats or bat roosts as part of your day-to-day operations, you could benefit from our Bat Awareness Training!

Why do you need to know about bats?

Even if you rarely encounter bats, it’s important to know a bit about them so you can:

Avoid prosecution: All UK bat species are protected by law, and destroying or disturbing them or their roosts is a criminal offence. There is no defence for not knowing. You must take the appropriate precautions for you and your clients.

Prevent unexpected costs: A last minute bat survey or licence application can mean costly delays, or if you are found to have committed an offence you could be fined up to £5,000 per bat disturbed, harmed, or destroyed.

The more you know, the more you can support your clients: By understanding a little about bats and bat surveys you can more effectively guide your clients through their proposed works.

Positive PR: With consumers increasingly swayed by environmental initiatives, you can set yourself apart by proactively learning about bats in the UK.

Our bats need all the help they can get: All of our native bat species have suffered significant declines since the end of World War II. Their roosts, their habitats, and their commuting routes all need protected and maintained to safeguard their populations for the future.
